Why Blocking in Farever Is More Important Than You Think

Blocking in Farever is one of the most important survival mechanics players can learn early, yet many overlook just how powerful it truly is. At first glance, blocking may seem like a simple defensive option meant to reduce incoming damage, but once you understand how normal blocks and perfect blocks function differently, it becomes clear that mastering this system can dramatically improve both survivability and combat control throughout the entire game.

At lower levels, particularly between levels 1 through 5, many enemies deal around 10 to 20 damage per hit. A successful block can often reduce that damage down to roughly 5 or less, effectively cutting incoming damage by around 50% to 70 % . While these numbers naturally scale upward as enemies become stronger later on, the overall defensive ratio remains relatively consistent. This means that blocking continues to provide powerful percentage-based protection well beyond the early game.

For newer players, even standard blocking offers massive value. Reducing incoming damage by half or more allows players to survive longer, preserve healing resources, and maintain far more control during fights that might otherwise feel overwhelming. However, normal blocking comes with a major drawback: block bar consumption. Each standard block drains your defensive resource significantly faster, meaning that while you may reduce damage, prolonged combat can quickly exhaust your ability to defend yourself.

Normal Block vs Perfect Block

Normal Block:

  • Reduces incoming damage by roughly 50–70%
  • Drains block bar quickly
  • Good for emergency defense
  • Less sustainable in long fights
  • No enemy debuff applied

Perfect Block:

  • Similar damage reduction
  • Uses far less block bar
  • Allows for more consecutive defenses
  • Applies enemy slow debuff
  • Reduces enemy attack speed
  • Reduces enemy movement speed
  • Greatly improves long-term survivability

This distinction is what makes perfect blocking one of Farever’s most rewarding mechanics. Rather than simply reducing damage, perfect blocking transforms defense into a highly efficient combat strategy. By preserving your block bar, players can maintain defensive uptime much longer, which is critical in difficult encounters or boss fights where stamina management becomes essential.

Even more importantly, perfect blocking actively weakens opponents. Slowing enemy movement and attack speed creates additional openings for counterattacks, repositioning, and resource recovery. In many situations, this turns dangerous enemies into significantly more manageable threats, shifting combat momentum directly in the player’s favor.
